5 step Wardrobe organization

Hello everyone, Diwali is just around the corner so I hope each one of you must be busy with the preparations. Fifteen days prior to Diwali, every household gets busy with the cleaning spree. Here I give you some of my tips that is going to make organizing your wardrobe (just clothes) a mere cakewalk for you, even if you are super lazy like me. So let’s just do it, shall we?
1. To be or not to be:
The first step is to sort your clothes so here are some of my tips to do that.
i)             Check for the clothes that are in good condition, still fit you and the ones which you are willing to wear in future.
ii)           Rest of the clothes, if are in good condition can be given to charity.
iii)         Remaining worn out clothes can also be reused, we Indians totally know how to do that, just ask your mother or grandmother.
2.  Wash and dry:
This is the perfect time to get all your clothes cleaned and dried, before the weather gets cold and drying the clothes gets really painful. Here are some of my tips.
i)            Soak the dark clothes in salt water (1-2 tbsp. in a bucket full of water would be enough) to retain their colour.
ii)           Always wash white/light clothes separately. And try not to keep dark clothes anywhere near them (been there done that several times).
iii)         Some of the stains can be removed by hydrogen peroxide. Dampen the stained area, add few drops of hydrogen peroxide and rub it with a brush, then washi it normally.
iv)          Always dry your clothes inside out so that the colour doesn’t fade away.
v)           Woollen clothes need to be put out in the sun frequently, to keep away the foul smell.
3. Iron and fold:
i)            The easiest way to iron the clothes that crease a lot is to run a damp napkin all over the cloth, wait for a minute or so and then iron it.
ii)           Always iron on a flat surface.
iii)         For all the clothes made of delicate fabric, use “silk” mode of your iron.
iv)          Here is the best way to fold your clothes uniformly, (I used the cardboard that came with myntra.com clothes, you can also use an exam board).
P.S. – My finger points to the end of the cardboard.
4. Sort like Monica:
Go ahead and try to sort your clothes into different categories so that it is easier to store them. Here I give you the classification that I came up with (not trying to be too much Monica Gellerish)

i)            Top wear – T-shirts, tops, kurtas, shirts, tunics.
ii)           Bottom wear – Jeans, pants, leggings, capris, shorts, skirts.
iii)         Others – Jackets, shrugs or any other item that is an add-on to your outfit.
5. Store:
I have lived in a hostel, so I totally understand the importance of smart storage. So here are some of my tips.
i)            Colour code your outfits. In short stack similar coloured clothes together. You can also stack light coloured clothes together and then store the dark coloured ones together.
ii)           Save space by putting two clothes on a hanger instead of one (best suited for short sleeved or long sleeved clothes).

iii)         I prefer to not put my cotton/chiffon clothes on hangers, it is just easier to store them on a flat surface.
iv)          Some of the clothes can be stored in a packet (shown in the image). I store some of my dresses in this fashion.

v)           Jackets and dresses can be stored as shown. Take a large plastic, cut out the portion where the hanger would go and that is it, slide the plastic through the hole. Tape the ends (I didn’t but please do that). This is just a jugaad.
vi)          Store heavy traditional dresses in Saree covers.
So friends, these are just some of the tricks (if they can be called so) that I use to manage all my clothes in a small space and I really hope that you found the “hacks” useful. I know not all of us have the same way to organize our stuff, so if you have any more tips that I might not know, then please leave them in the comments below. Show some love for my blog and do share it with your friends. I am planning to write a makeup organization post as wel, so let me know if you would like that.

Nutella Pudding

Hello happy people. I hope you all are doing great. I am back after a long hiatus and I have a (almost) healthy sweet recipe to share with you all because Diwali is just around the corner.

So all the Nutella lovers out there, let’s get started. Here is what you will need to make 2 servings,

Ingredient
Quantity
1.
Milk
1 ½ cup

2.
Rice flour
1 tbsp.

3.
Nutella
2-3 tbsp.

4.
Cocoa powder
1 tsp.

5.

Sugar
1 tsp.
6.
Crushed Almonds
(I used grated ones)
2 for the pudding
1 for garnishing

Procedure:

1. Sift rice flour and cocoa powder (in a fairly large, heavy bottom utensil) to remove any lumps.

2. Slowly add in the milk, use a whisk or fork to stir continuously. Mix until no lumps are seen in the mixture.

3. Put the utensil on low heat. Keep stirring every 2-3 minutes.

4. Add the Nutella and to this mixture.

Tip: You can melt the Nutella by placing the bottle in warm water as shown. This will just make it easier to scoop out the Nutella.

4. Add the almonds. This mixture needs to simmer on low heat for at least 10-12 minutes or until it becomes thick and obviously its quantity reduces.
Tip: Check the taste as well. If you get the taste of raw rice flour then, you need to cook it for some more time.

5. Finally pour the mixture into bowls or glasses, whatever you prefer and put them in the freezer for 1 to 1 ½ hour.

6. Finally garnish your desert with the chopped/crushed/grated almonds to make it look nice and pretty and you are ready to enjoy a Nutella filled experience.

So friends, I hope that you will try out this recipe and if you do, let me know in the comments below how you and your guests like it. If you have any suggestions or if there is anything you want me to write about or you want to share a picture of your recreation of this recipe, feel free to catch up with me on Google+ or on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/AHappyGirlWrites) or Instagram (a.happy.girl.writes) or on Twitter (A_Happy_Girl2) or Snapchat (ahappy.girl , even though I am very new to that). Till next time, keep smiling and I will be back with another Diwali related post. Have a happy day :) .

Turning 25………………

Hello everyone, I had been away for a long time but I am back with an article close to my heart. Today I write this article that is about me turning 25. It is quite difficult for me to believe that I am 25 years old because I don’t feel any older than 18 (wink). But here I go with my story of turning 25.

25 is a phase where many of your friends are getting married or getting engaged or at least hooking up with some one. Others are having a great professional life and spending all of their money however they want to. You see the pictures of their amazing life on the social networking sites and can’t help feeling jealous about them. Then you look at yourself and you have no clue as to where you went wrong in life. You are single, with no idea about your career, you have no money and you live every day with a constant fear in your heart ‘What if I end up like this for the rest of my life?’ Life in short is just like the plot of an integer number, it is constant. You are just existing without a single idea about the motive of your life. But you know what? This might not just be my story, it might be the story of every other individual who is trying to figure out the meaning of their life.
And then when your mind is flooded with all of these thoughts, you message a friend (or that’s what you feel) and that person just makes you feel so positive and so loved and so important. But all of this is short lived and you are back to reality in no time. Trust me when I say that you don’t need a friend who makes you feel important temporarily. And then finally, when your stress levels shoot the peak, you pick up your phone to message an old friend whom you don’t talk to regularly. You pour your heart out to that friend and somehow you feel a little more relaxed and just a tiny bit more positive. Or maybe you just take a walk with a friend who has a life as f**ked up as yours and both of you share your problems with each other and that makes you feel better, thinking that you have someone who is walking on the same road as yours.
Believe me guys, life is tough but being an optimist is the only way out. Maybe someday you will get into an institution that you always wanted to get into. Maybe you will meet the man/woman of yours dreams or maybe you won’t, maybe you will end up alone. But one thing is for sure, you won’t end up unhappy. There is so much love and happiness in this world, I am sure we all will find happiness in something or the other. Someday your life will be close to what you had imagined it to be. Maybe not on your 25th but certainly on your 30th. So let’s be hopeful and let’s live our respective lives one day at a time and we all will get there for sure. Until then keep working hard with nothing but a smile on your face and I am sure we will find out the meaning of life in the most unexpected way.

So friends I hope you liked this article. Do share your experiences with me. Goodbye my dear friends and I will see you soon. Until then Keep Smiling. 4. Green nail polish (Maybelline colorshow 301 Tenacious Teal)
5. Blue nail polish & a tooth pick OR Blue dotting tool
6. Cello tape & pair of scissors
7. Transparent top coat (optional)
Procedure:
1. Apply base coat to protect your natural nails.
2. Apply an opaque coat of white nail polish. Let it dry completely. This may take 10-15 minutes.
3. Cut a small piece of cello tape equal to one-third of your nail. Apply it on the middle portion of your nail.
4. On the top portion apply saffron nail polish & immediately apply green nail polish.
5. Remove the cello tape as soon as you finish applying both the polishes.
6. Apply a small dot of blue nail polish in the middle & there you go you have the Indian tricolour on your nails.

OMG On Spot Beauty!!!!!

Hello happy people. I hope you all are doing great. Today I am going to share with you my experience about the most dreaded thing in this world (not really) PIMPLES & its scars (scream!!!!!!). It’s not really about pimples or its scars, but it is about people and their reaction to a girl with not so perfect face. So here I go.
My skin was perfectly normal until these little monsters started popping up on my face. They tried their best to make my life miserable, but could they????? Read on to find out ;) . When the pimples started appearing on my face, the people around me were little shocked. Then, the number of pimples started increasing and everybody was like “OMG what happened?? Are you okay???” Some comments that I received included “What did you do to your face??? It looks bad (Read: You look ugly)” That happens a lot when you are a student of all girl’s college :P . And then everyone around you becomes a Skin Specialist/Beauty Guru and they think that it is their fundamental right to suggest me some cure for my problem.
My experience at shops and malls was even better. Every salesgirl was trying to sell me some so called anti-acne products. I don’t buy such products because I know my skin and I know that it loves just natural products. I would like to narrate one such incident that happened while I was doing my regular beauty products shopping.
Salesgirl: Ma’am are you buying that facewash??
Me: Yes. I buy it every time. It kinda suits my skin.
Salesgirl: You have acne on your skin. Why don’t you try this facewash by so & so brand.
Me: No I am on medication for my acne and I can’t really try something new.
Salesgirl: You are taking medicines??? But it doesn’t look like that. I mean your face has sooooo many pimples. Try this facewash and they will disappear in a week or so.
Me: Sigh. I can’t really buy it. Thanks for your suggestion.
Why would I buy an overly priced (priced around 200 rupees) product from a so called famous company when my trusted friend Multani Mitti priced at 20 rupees does a better job??
I am not against people suggesting me cure for my problem. I am just against people constantly reminding me that my skin looks terrible. Who likes a face full of pimples??? No one. That includes me as well. But somehow due to some problems my skin doesn’t look perfect. And the best part is I am totally okay with it. The reason behind it is ‘Nothing lasts forever’ (definitely not my pimples). They are just there and I am trying my best to get rid of those. Even my doctor has advised me to use just natural products and of course her prescribed medicines.
The pimples won’t go away in a day or two. They need time to heal. Until that I just expect little co-operation from the people around me. I can’t really expect the salesgirls to stop selling me the products. But I can expect just a teeny-tiny bit of co-operation from the people around me. But then I forgot that we live in a society where outer beauty is everything. What people fail to realize is that being beautiful is all about having a beautiful heart and not just a beautiful face. I have experienced this about pimples, many of you might have experienced something like this about some other imperfections within you. But I genuinely feel that nobody is perfect and as Marilyn Monroe has perfectly said “Imperfection is Beauty”. So, my funda is “Put a smile and ignore the negatives”. I would like to conclude by saying “Yes I have pimples and I am pretty much okay with it” #Confidence

So friends I hope you liked this article and if you did, do comment below. But before doing that please try to change your outlook because if we need a big change, we need to start with yourself. Goodbye my dear friends and I will see you on Tuesday with beauty article. Until then Keep Smiling. Please do follow my blog, like the facebook page. Women’s Empowerment

Hello beautiful people. I hope you all are doing great. I know I am little late for Women’s day special article (apologies!!!) but better late than never. So here I am with an article which was supposed to be collaboration between me and one of my very talented blogger friend but I guess I am little late in publishing my article (Link for his article is at the end of this post). So here I go.
‘Women’s empowerment’, this word has really being in focus ever since the interview featuring Mr. Rahul Gandhi was aired on a news channel. But the real question is, are women in India really empowered? The answer, unfortunately is NO. In our society, the position of a girl is still lower than a boy. We worship goddesses but even today, many girls are killed even before they can come into this world. In many families, a girl is not treated equal to her brothers just because she is a girl. A girl deserves love, care, education, respect and most importantly freedom in every possible way. She deserves to grow and become successful, doesn’t she? She is strong enough to fight for her rights & freedom, but why does she have to?
I am the only child of my parents & my parents were always proud of the fact that they are parents to a girl. Me and many other girls like me are blessed to have such parents. But not every girl is given a chance to enter into this world, study and become independent. Just yesterday, one of my friends was eve teased on the roads. Is this how women’s day is celebrated?? Celebrating women’s day will actually make sense when every girl is gets her right, right to live and be free.
All I can say is that a girl needs to be respected not because she is someone’s daughter or sister, but because she is a human being. So today let us salute the spirit of womanhood. Please feel free to leave your thoughts about Women’s empowerment in the comments down below.
Goodbye my dear friends and I will see you soon. Until then Keep Smiling. Please do follow my blog, like the facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/pages/A-Happy-Girl/292903830872974?ref_type=bookmark) and follow me on twitter (https://twitter.com/A_Happy_Girl2) as well as on Google Plus. If you have any suggestions or questions, please comment below. The link to my friend’s post (where he talks about the history of the position of women in India) ishttps://engineeringmescopehain.wordpress.com/2015/02/15/this-will-enrich-your-knowledge-and-thought-process-about-the-status-of-women-in-the-society-things-that-we-dont-know/
