Easy Diwali Nail Art

Hello everyone and first of all let me wish you all a very Happy Diwali. I hope each one of you has a safe Diwali, stay away from crackers and celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali. Today I have an easy nail art to share with you all. I mean if a not so artistic person like me can do it, anyone can do it.

So let’s get started. Here is what you will need,
1. Base coat (Rimmel “Nail Nurse Stronger Nail Base Coat”)
2. Golden nail polish (Maybelline glitter mania in “All That Glitters”)
3. Red nail polish (OPI “Innie Minnie Mighty Bow”)
4. Yellow nail polish (Maybelline “Sweet Sunshine”)
5. Brown nail polish (Elle 18 “No 64”)
6. White nail polish (Maybelline “Porcelain Party ”)
7. Orange nail polish (Maybelline “Orange Fix”)
8. Clear nail polish (Maybelline “Crystal Clear”)
9. Round bottom tooth picks
I was trying to make the shape of a diya with nail polishes, but I failed miserably #sadface.
Procedure:
1. Apply the base coat on all of your nails, this is just going to protect your nails from the colours that we will add on the top.
2. Apply golden nail polish on all the nails except the ring finger (you can also paint the diya on more fingers, I just used my ring finger as an accent finger). Let it dry completely.
3. Add two dots with the tooth pick using the red and yellow nail polishes, the upper one smaller than the other (Yellow and red are the colours of haldi and kumkum so I used those). Repeat on all the nails except the ring finger. {Picture no. 1}
4. Paint the accent nail with a white nail polish and let it dry completely.
5. Make three dots side by side with brown nail polish and tooth pick. {Picture no. 2}
6. Make two dots between the three dots with the same brown colour. This will create the diya (I fixed up mine later just by gently dragging the tooth pick until I get the desired shape). {Picture no. 3}
7. Apply an orange dot above the brown, this will make the base of the flame. {Picture no. 4}
8. Gently drag the tooth pick with yellow colour on it to complete the flame. Let it dry completely. It usually takes a lot of time so just let it stay there, do your work and get back to it later. {Picture no. 5}
9. Apply clear nail polish on the accent nail and there you go you have a tiny diya on your nails.
So this is my Diwali inspired nail art. I hope you liked it and if you decide to recreate this or if you have any other design, then send me a photo of it on any of the social media. I hope you all have a great Diwali and I will catch up with you soon. If you have any suggestions or if there is anything you want me to write about, feel free to catch up with me here or on Google+ or on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/AHappyGirlWrites) or Instagram (a.happy.girl.writes) or on Twitter (A_Happy_Girl2) or Snapchat (ahappy.girl , even though I am very new to that). Till next time, keep smiling and have a happy day J.

5 step Wardrobe organization

Hello everyone, Diwali is just around the corner so I hope each one of you must be busy with the preparations. Fifteen days prior to Diwali, every household gets busy with the cleaning spree. Here I give you some of my tips that is going to make organizing your wardrobe (just clothes) a mere cakewalk for you, even if you are super lazy like me. So let’s just do it, shall we?
1. To be or not to be:
The first step is to sort your clothes so here are some of my tips to do that.
i)             Check for the clothes that are in good condition, still fit you and the ones which you are willing to wear in future.
ii)           Rest of the clothes, if are in good condition can be given to charity.
iii)         Remaining worn out clothes can also be reused, we Indians totally know how to do that, just ask your mother or grandmother.
2.  Wash and dry:
This is the perfect time to get all your clothes cleaned and dried, before the weather gets cold and drying the clothes gets really painful. Here are some of my tips.
i)            Soak the dark clothes in salt water (1-2 tbsp. in a bucket full of water would be enough) to retain their colour.
ii)           Always wash white/light clothes separately. And try not to keep dark clothes anywhere near them (been there done that several times).
iii)         Some of the stains can be removed by hydrogen peroxide. Dampen the stained area, add few drops of hydrogen peroxide and rub it with a brush, then washi it normally.
iv)          Always dry your clothes inside out so that the colour doesn’t fade away.
v)           Woollen clothes need to be put out in the sun frequently, to keep away the foul smell.
3. Iron and fold:
i)            The easiest way to iron the clothes that crease a lot is to run a damp napkin all over the cloth, wait for a minute or so and then iron it.
ii)           Always iron on a flat surface.
iii)         For all the clothes made of delicate fabric, use “silk” mode of your iron.
iv)          Here is the best way to fold your clothes uniformly, (I used the cardboard that came with myntra.com clothes, you can also use an exam board).
P.S. – My finger points to the end of the cardboard.
4. Sort like Monica:
Go ahead and try to sort your clothes into different categories so that it is easier to store them. Here I give you the classification that I came up with (not trying to be too much Monica Gellerish)

i)            Top wear – T-shirts, tops, kurtas, shirts, tunics.
ii)           Bottom wear – Jeans, pants, leggings, capris, shorts, skirts.
iii)         Others – Jackets, shrugs or any other item that is an add-on to your outfit.
5. Store:
I have lived in a hostel, so I totally understand the importance of smart storage. So here are some of my tips.
i)            Colour code your outfits. In short stack similar coloured clothes together. You can also stack light coloured clothes together and then store the dark coloured ones together.
ii)           Save space by putting two clothes on a hanger instead of one (best suited for short sleeved or long sleeved clothes).

iii)         I prefer to not put my cotton/chiffon clothes on hangers, it is just easier to store them on a flat surface.
iv)          Some of the clothes can be stored in a packet (shown in the image). I store some of my dresses in this fashion.

v)           Jackets and dresses can be stored as shown. Take a large plastic, cut out the portion where the hanger would go and that is it, slide the plastic through the hole. Tape the ends (I didn’t but please do that). This is just a jugaad.
vi)          Store heavy traditional dresses in Saree covers.
So friends, these are just some of the tricks (if they can be called so) that I use to manage all my clothes in a small space and I really hope that you found the “hacks” useful. I know not all of us have the same way to organize our stuff, so if you have any more tips that I might not know, then please leave them in the comments below. Show some love for my blog and do share it with your friends. I am planning to write a makeup organization post as wel, so let me know if you would like that.
Till next time, keep smiling and I will be back with another Diwali related post. Have a happy day J.

Nutella Pudding

Hello happy people. I hope you all are doing great. I am back after a long hiatus and I have a (almost) healthy sweet recipe to share with you all because Diwali is just around the corner.

         So all the Nutella lovers out there, let’s get started. Here is what you will need to make 2 servings,

Ingredient
Quantity
1.
Milk
1 ½ cup

2.
Rice flour
1 tbsp.

3.
Nutella
2-3 tbsp.

4.
Cocoa powder
1 tsp.

5.

Sugar
1 tsp.
6.
Crushed Almonds
(I used grated ones)
2 for the pudding
1 for garnishing

Procedure:

1. Sift rice flour and cocoa powder (in a fairly large, heavy bottom utensil) to remove any lumps.

2. Slowly add in the milk, use a whisk or fork to stir continuously. Mix until no lumps are seen in the mixture.

3. Put the utensil on low heat. Keep stirring every 2-3 minutes.

4. Add the Nutella and to this mixture.

Tip: You can melt the Nutella by placing the bottle in warm water as shown. This will just make it easier to scoop out the Nutella.

4. Add the almonds. This mixture needs to simmer on low heat for at least 10-12 minutes or until it becomes thick and obviously its quantity reduces.
Tip: Check the taste as well. If you get the taste of raw rice flour then, you need to cook it for some more time.

5. Finally pour the mixture into bowls or glasses, whatever you prefer and put them in the freezer for 1 to 1 ½ hour.

6. Finally garnish your desert with the chopped/crushed/grated almonds to make it look nice and pretty and you are ready to enjoy a Nutella filled experience.

So friends, I hope that you will try out this recipe and if you do, let me know in the comments below how you and your guests like it. If you have any suggestions or if there is anything you want me to write about or you want to share a picture of your recreation of this recipe, feel free to catch up with me on Google+ or on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/AHappyGirlWrites) or Instagram (a.happy.girl.writes) or on Twitter (A_Happy_Girl2) or Snapchat (ahappy.girl , even though I am very new to that). Till next time, keep smiling and I will be back with another Diwali related post. Have a happy day :) .
